The Parade

Yesterday there was a veritable parade of men through my life.

The Lawyer spent the night on Wednesday, and as expected, he's already totally smitten. He emailed me his alternate email and his work phone number - so I could get in touch with him at any moment of the day.

The Host called me later in the afternoon, saying "I want you." My response? "Who doesn't?" Little did I know how true that statement was.

Because after I finally took a shower and pulled on my silk pj's, the phone rang. It was The Photographer, saying he was in the neighborhood, and was I in a friendly mood? I laughed and told him to stop by and see for himself. He was appreciative of my nipples, visible through the silk, and the damp mop of curls on my head. But I warned him that I was expecting a call from The Lawyer, who was going to be stopping by later to put lotion on my sunburned skin. The Photographer stayed for 20 minutes or so, and then left.

When the phone rang, I thought it was The Lawyer. Instead, it was The Politician. I attended a black-tie dinner last Friday, and essentially was stood up by my date. By some stroke of luck, I was seated at The Politician's table. We chatted, laughed, flirted - and then I invited him back to the house for a drink.

The Politician has a well-known longtime companion - who was not in attendance that evening. He accepted my invitation, and we continued our chat, eventually progressing to some kissing and groping. That's as far as it went, and I've been waiting for him to call ever since. I sent him a personal note, and that prompted his call. He was a true politician - saying how incredibly attracted to me he is, and then listing all the reasons why it wouldn't work.

Good grief, I'm not looking to get married, I just want to go out with you! Probably won't happen - because he is so well known in the community, he can't be parading me around town.

Unbelieveable. Every time I think my life can't possibly take another twist or turn, it does.
